Street Children Education Project
The activities you’ll
be doing In the Indian cities there are particular communities residing in
temporary tents besides the streets. These people are illiterate and
lacking the basic amenities of life in addition to this they had no
measures of birth control and therefore on an average one family had
approx. 4 to 6 children. These children are called as street children.
The organization is working among these children under the Street to
School Project with support of international volunteers.
The volunteers are mainly focusing for their upliftment by teaching,
and providing general awareness of health, hygiene and nutrition to
the children to make their living standard better which is helpful for
diverting the track of their living style and to rehabilitate in
better manner. Being motive to admit street children in Government
School enabling them to continue their further study, a basic
pre-education program is conducted in open creating friendly
atmosphere backing with playful activities, teachings and mending
their present attitude so that they could be brought at par with the
standard of a school going child. Basic amenities needed to attract
the street children to prepare themselves for school going are
provided by the organization with support of international volunteers.
A day in the life of a volunteer
On working days, volunteers usually get up and eat breakfast with
family or at volunteer’s home, before leaving for their Volunteer
Placements. Our staff will provide transportation to and from your
Volunteer Placement. You will probably spend about four hours at your
Volunteer Placement. Afternoons will be filled with opportunities to
learn about the local culture and customs, field trips to places of
local interest, discussions with experts on local issues and others.
Evening meal-times provide another exciting chance to enjoy authentic
food provided by host family/our staff cooks. The food is delicious
and healthy and takes full advantage of local cooking traditions. The
evenings and weekends are free time, to relax or explore the local
area. Volunteers often travel to other parts of the country at
weekends, and the staff who are all from the local area themselves,
are always happy to make recommendations.
