India Expedition - Volunteering | Traveling | Adventures

This six week expedition combines travel, adventure and four week volunteer work in Jaipur. A full week of your program will take to visit several cities of Rajasthan including desert and camel safari and last week of program will take you on another weeklong travel to north India including Himalayan trekking, visit to Taj Mahal and Golden Temple.

"The basic idea of the program is to combine volunteering with travel which is what initially attracted me to the program and I have been very happy with my overall experience. I volunteered for 4 weeks in the street kids program teaching a class of 11 students between the ages of 5-11. I had never taught children before so I was first pretty nervous about going in but the kids are used to being taught by volunteers and are all very eager to learn. I had a great time and am really sad to be leaving the kids! With the travel was as advertised with very nice accommodations and everything included in the itinerary was included. There are rules in the house and I think it was better to have more rules than less just to ensure safety and security for everyone. Overall I had a fantastic time and would recommend Sankalp for people wanting to travel and make a difference with a very structured and safe organization."

Why choose Sankalp Volunteer?
Experience: We have more than 10 years of experience running our volunteer program successfully in India.
Flexibility: You can choose your own start date and end date!
Meaningful: You will experience worthwhile and fulfilling volunteer projects serving our local community.
Safety: We have full time staff close by in our volunteer placements.

Why should I pay to Volunteers?
Although volunteering is a great way to give your time, it does come with a cost in order for you to live comfortably while volunteering within our program. Your fees will help cover the cost of paying our staff (driver & cook) along with accommodating you with a safe, comfortable living environment; which include daily amenities, two meals a day, and internet access. A partial sum of your fee will also help our programs continue to run and help the children we serve.

How do I choose a program options?
Make sure you look at the two different kinds of programs we offer - The "Volunteer & Travel" option has set dates throughout the year and it is the most popular option available. Under this option there are four different programs for you to choose from. If none of these options fit your schedule you can do the "Volunteer Only" program which allows you to volunteer anytime for as many weeks as you like would like.

Do I need experiences, special skills to be a volunteer at Sankalp?
No, you don't need any special skills. We are happy to welcome everyone that is enthusiastic and driven to help other people. It's necessary to speak English since it is the language we use to communicate, but it's perfectly fine if English is your second language. You'll also be able to improve your level of English here, as you'll be speaking it constantly.

How it is safe?
At Sankalp we make safety a high priority for each and every volunteer and staff member that join our program. Our program has been running for several years and we have had the great joy in welcoming hundreds of volunteers into our program, please trust that we have extensive experience in caring and protecting all of our volunteers. This includes safety within the house, transportation provided by us, safety at the program locations, and any emergencies that may arise. We do not conduct any program that could in any possible way jeopardize the safety of any volunteer or staff member. We are very proud of our ongoing commitment and provision of safety for all that join our team. In the past 8 years we have had hundreds of volunteers within the age group of 16-65 years of age, with a maximum of 30 volunteers at the house, with no miss-happening to anyone in our program. In order to continue our priority and contract with safety, our organization maintains very set rules and regulations. We ask that you join our program with adherence to the set rules and respect them appropriately for your own and others personal safety.

India Year Expedition

I completed the India Expedition program with Sankalp from October to the end of November 2015 and was placed in the Orphanage. This experience is unique compared to most travel opportunities in India. In each volunteer program with Sankalp, you experience India in its original state NOT JUST tourist attractions. You are immersed in the culture and community and have the ability to learn how the locals live. Really, by the end of it, you are likely to feel more like a local than a tourist. Sankalp is following best practices in terms of the street kid program, orphanage program and women empowerment program (the only 3 I had an opportunity to research and understand). They are working to better the lives of children in India that are in dire need and if you have concerns about where the money is going Pranay and Amita are very willing to explain if you give them a chance in a respectful way.

I joined six week India Expedition program in Jaipur. Working with Sankalp was one of the decisions I have ever made, from the time I made 1st query till the end of my program. Working at Street kid's school was the highlight of my program. The kids at the school were so adorable and eager to learn. I taught kids English and Maths. The provided services were basic but comfortable. All the necessities were take care in very well way. Pranay and Amita were very friendly, ready to solve every enquiry we made. Help us in all the ways. Food was always delicious, though vegetarian meals only. I would recommend Sankalp to anyone who are interested in volunteering in India and meaningful volunteer work.
